a week agoThe location is good but I’m afraid the Village Glebe doesn’t live up to the standards set under their brand such as the Village in North Melbourne (which is absolutely worth staying at). It is simply a roof over your head and nothing more. Check in was late by fifteen minutes from 2pm and the staff member kept on calling me bro and brother. The luggage storage was abysmal. Bags and rucksacks thrown on top of each other and the stench was awful. The kitchen has rusted pots and pans and when I mentioned this to reception I just got told oh we replaced them before and they would pass my comments to management. There was a stain on the wall in my dorm and the top bunkbed was broken coupled with no insect screen. The bathrooms are pretty awful and have only two basins which mean you have to work around queues quite a bit. Yes there were “free pancakes” on Sunday but when you can’t label your food (they provide a paper labels but no means of attaching them to your bags). There was one fridge which was broken. There are better hostels in Sydney which couple value, staff professionalism and hygiene.

a month agoGreat stay at this hostel! Friendly staff and a perfect spot to meet people, there are many events to socialize with other people and everyone is friendly there. It’s like a tiny family. Especially the event coordinator does his job well, great, exciting and fun events nearly everyday. Highly recommend!

a week agoQuite possibly the worst nights sleep ever. The room I had was situated at the reception which had no sound proofing or barrier to it. The lady at reception was helpful. Especially when playing music loudly at 22:45 at night. Cleanliness was not up to basic standards. An embarrassment to The Village chain. Where other branches of their hostel such as the Bondi one are much cleaner, nicer and friendlier.

3 months agoCheck in was quick and easy. The guy working behind reception kindly helped carry our luggage to our room. We stayed in a private room with shared bathroom. Decent size room with small kitchenette. Free breakfast on the roof top was an unexpected bonus! Lovely German bloke called Lassa serving breakfast was friendly and chatty and makes a mean pancake
