a month agoExtremely Disappointing Experience - Would Not Recommend We stayed at Discovery Parks Mackay for over a week without any issues until Friday night, when a disaster struck. Our tent site flooded due to a burst pipe under our tent, forcing my partner, dog, and I to sleep in our car. Despite calling the emergency number several times, no one responded until much later. We even had to ask neighboring campers to help us move our belongings out of the water. When someone finally arrived, it was the groundskeeper who turned off the water and then blamed us for the flood, saying we placed our tent peg in the wrong spot—even though there were no warnings or markings. This was highly inappropriate and unprofessional, as it was clearly an issue with the park’s infrastructure. The next morning, we spoke with the manager, who didn’t offer us any help or compensation. Other campers suggested that a decent response would have been to upgrade us to a cabin for the night, but the park staff showed no care or concern for our situation. To make matters worse, when we went to the office to discuss the issue and request a refund for the nights we didn’t stay, the receptionist was dismissive and rude. She sighed while we explained our concerns, and despite initially promising to refund us for Sunday, the park later reneged on that commitment. The level of service we received was unacceptable. Not only were we forced to leave due to an issue caused by the park’s poor infrastructure, but we were also treated poorly when trying to resolve the situation. I would not recommend staying at Discovery Parks Mackay, especially if you expect any kind of support or professionalism from the staff when things go wrong.

2 months agoThe park is great the staff 10/10 but the park is aging although clean the cabins need attention the grounds could be amazing but the are kept but this park could be breathtaking I honestly hope the get the budget and help the need to bring this beautiful park up to modern day. I feel for the staff who do an amazing job. The kids have an array of choice for activities and for the dads and mums catch and release Barra. It's worth the stop just saying it could be so much more.

3 months agoThe site we had opposite the lagoon meant we could look out over the lagoon and see numerous birds, which was lovely. The traffic from the road and the industrial plant operating could be heard all night long. The ensuites while clean could use a bit of an upgrade. It was a shame with the park so full that half the washing machines were not operational leading to cues. We probably won’t stay there again.

2 months agoDiscovery Parks Mackay is a great location for sight seeing. The sites are grassy and spacious. We had an ensuited site and it was very comfortable. The staff were friendly on arrival and the staff I've seen around the park are also friendly. We have stayed at a few Discovery Parks and I've been happy each time.
